Tony,

This is a happy ending for both Apple and Power. I think Wall Street
likes to see this kind of result. Power is located in Texas, where
there are big populations in education, publishing enterprises. Apple
needs a strong hold in such state.

Umax and Motorola are easier to resolve since they played as lower
profile. Umax seems to reach interim agreement with Apple, and
start to ship OS8 by October. Motorola's case is more complex since
it not only sell clone machines, but also manufacture chips. The
best way to resolve Umax and Motorola issue would be to have them
invest significantly in Apple in part to avoid Rhapsody rapidly
entering into Intel's territory to damage the market share of PowerPC
chips. Well, this is very complicated relationships among Motorola,
IBM, Microsoft, Intel and Apple once Rhapsody becomes available.
If Microsoft wants to have Rhapsody becomes window 2000, then more or
less the sales of PowerPC chips will get significantly impacted.
But, I don't konw how much. Therefore, Motorola and IBM better have
strategy ASAP to maintain and increase PowerPC market share in the
near future.

IMHO
