On the other hand if you are thinking in terms of availability of fuel, and running out of petroleum, then there is a good supply of CO2 and water. Biomass is plentiful too. However H2 when you burn it makes only water, so it is cleaner if you are worried about CO2. CO2 is a weak greenhouse gas and is present in very small concentrations in the atmosphere. Water is the biggest greenhouse vapor/(gas) there is on the planet :-[)
