Is this ID thing already programmed into the P-III chip?

Think about the production lead time for the volumes of chips Intel manufactures. It would take months and a huge amount of money to back out a major design feature.

I have no idea how Intel is going to extricate themselves from this mess ;^))

Clipper was the ill fated key escrow chip the feds wanted put in all PC's a few years ago. Intel seems to be following in their footsteps with PIII.
