Shiva LanRover VPN Gateway Certified As IPsec-Compliant By The ICSA
BEDFORD, Mass., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Shiva Corporation, the leading provider of VPN and direct-dial business access solutions, today announced that the International Computer Security Association (ICSA) has certified that the LanRover VPN Gateway is Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) compliant. IPsec is an industry standard that provides interoperability across VPN products and vendors while maintaining security on the Internet and other public networks. With the announcement of IPsec certification, Shiva's VPN products can participate in the Automotive Industry Action Group's (AIAG's) electronic commerce trading network known as the Automotive Network eXchange(R) (ANX(R)), a trading network for 40,000 automotive manufacturers and suppliers. The ICSA is working with the AIAG to test and IPsec certify VPN products.
"Shiva has met all of the requirements of the ICSA to provide secure communications over the Internet with its VPN suite," said Peter Tippett, president of ICSA. "It is important to the state of business that companies including Shiva work with ICSA to deliver the necessary degrees of security and interoperability."
"Due to the competitive nature of the automotive industry, security is a crucial component for the ANX(R) service," said Karl E. Schohl, ANX business manager at the AIAG. "We are pleased that Shiva has passed the International Computer Security Association's IPsec certification criteria, so that Shiva can provide ANX(R) subscribers with the high-performance, standards-based security needed for secure electronic commerce and data transfer."
"Shiva's IPsec certification, in combination with our ICSA firewall certification, makes our VPN products well-recognized as a highly secure VPN solution," said Mark Tuomenoksa, CTO and vice president, virtual private networking at Shiva Corporation. "IPsec certification is a valuable step to take in an industry moving towards secure interoperability, and Shiva is happy to be a part of this important industry-wide effort." |
