I agree, but it is a raw issue for many. For the last 20 years or so, the progressives have been gaining power, and the establishment moderate Democrats have been using their entrenched power to stave them off and hold on to power.
We saw this in spades in the 2016 election when the moderates circled the wagons around Hillary and were able to prevent any good Democrats from running against her.
And we saw both the passion and strength of the progressive's in how much money progressive candidates have been able to raise. In small donations they out raise the moderates every time. The establishment Democrats have to rely on big donations from the rich and Wall street types.
And once again, in 2020, a moderate, Biden, won using the full power of the establishment wing e.g. Obama calling Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar right after the Nevada route by Sanders and asking them to drop out and support Biden, which both did; then James Clyburn directed the African American's to vote for Biden and they did and that was that. In the Southern states" the African American holds the power. That is where Hillary routed Bernie as well.
The grand irony, is that Biden has been reincarnated as a very progressive Democrat, which NO one saw, an every one loves, but few acknowledge that maybe the progressives were right all along, as that is the agenda Biden is embracing.
<,
The Democratic party has not done a good job overall for the last 10 years or so getting people elected.
Look at the special election for Texas congressman just yesterday. There were dozens of candidates. Why wasn't there a party to sort things out a bit before splitting the vote so many ways ? What does the party think it's function is? It seems it's just to support the old leadership and let everything else fall apart. |
