Jesse - just reading over todays Marum NR, would think we might see another one of those situation alerts from Sudhir, maybe even something from John the Kaiser.
Now there wouldn't be anyway that dinosaurs of buffaloes could make a mess-like and cause all that pyroclastic and green olivine to be just waitin for the auger drill would there?
This would be in my opinion just about as close to announcing kimberlite as one would dare to report without having a deeper diamond drill core. I guess in a strict material sense, if the diamond drill brings up a piece of core and it is kimberlite, there is no doubt it came from the drill sampling area. If an auger drill brings up core, one can't be absolutely certain the material came form the sampling area, since the auger drill samples softer material which could possibly be pushed in from other sources.
Interestingly, the maximum depth of overburden was only 9.4m. but drill depths ranged from 12.3m to 40.5m, so it appears that the auger was able to penetrate down into the pyroclastic layer on quote " At least three targets over an area of about 15km in length yielded multiple thick pyroclastic ash horizons, up to 2.5m thick..... "
If this is thought to be the upper part pipes, then the high resolution flying would be to get a better idea of sizes, and to see how many other targets have similar signatures.
This appears to be a pretty good progress report, and should bring quite a bit of interest to the area. Maybe Everest, Mt Hope, Montello and others that have land in the area will be coming over to have a looksee. |
