John, Regarding CA & BMCS problems in mainframe software sales. A newsletter I subscribe to on Friday reversed postions based on CA/BMCS/IBM woes and now feels this failure to close deals at the end of a quarter(a shock to him) could be indicitive of a wider trend which will cause more earnings disappointments(one coming this week) with the failure to close problem continuing thru the current quarter. Hes predicting a retest of lows on Naz and a 10% correction in the Dow. ORCL, with great earnings, also noted this failure to close but blamed it on no discount policy. The intimation is that this is caused by uncertaintly in the marketplace on what to buy so no decisions are delayed. And for old economy companies impacted by interest rates and oil shock, this maybe a way not weaken bottom line further. Am guessing here, not an accountant. This thread always has attracted the best at SI and I am looking for input re: how this could affect MSFT as well as naz. We are at the 4050 point on naz where we can break out or reverse according to the chartists.
