But then you let your anti-Israel bias show by claiming that somehow they are an "apartheid" society and the rest of the Arab world isn't.. Very clever, but not quite correct:
Huh? Where exactly did I claim that the Arab world is not guilty of all kinds of things? And what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?
You cannot divert the attention from Israeli apartheid treatment of Arab citizens by saying that Jews have it even worse in Arab countries. IRRELEVANT. South Africa under apartheid could claim better treatment of blacks than in almost any African country - that doesn EXCUSE THE CRIMES OF SOUTH AFRICAN APARTHEID! Arab citizens are second class in Israel - if you don't realize that, please educate yourself. South Africa had little "self-rule" bantustans for their blacks too. DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT.
And quit falling into the same trap that many people do - TWO WRONGS DON'T MAKE A RIGHT! Arab crimes do not excuse Israeli crimes. You can't point to the treatment of Jews in Syria as justification for killing Palestinians by Israel. South Africa couldn't say: well we only beat our blacks, but in Rwanda they murder hundreds of thousands, so aparthied is just fine and dandy.
As to your whole historical argument about how there were no countries and so no land could be stolen - utter nonsense. First because the history of countries was very complex, but second because the people certainly were there. You can't justify stealing the land from American Indians by saying: "well, they didn't really have a country, so why can't we take the land".
All those tribes you describe... reminds me of the argument South African colonialists used: S. Africa was just a bunch of tribes running around in constant warfare against each other. So, we took the land, because it really didn't belong to anyone.
Nonsense. And furthermore, internecine Arab wars do not give someone the right to jump in and grab the land. Would it really be a good idea if during a war in Europe - and they had many - suddenly China decided to carve out a country in Europe?
I do not have any anti-Israeli bias. I think that while a wrenching event, Israel has a right to exist in 67 borders, and live in peace. But it does not have a right to occupy a people, whether those people were occupied before or not, whether some other countries did not commit "greater crimes" against them, and any other irrelevant distractions.
Fact is, Israel is an apartheid colonial regime, occupying a people who yearn to create their own country. Oh and btw., you must be kidding in claiming that there is less of a self-identity for Palestinians than for Jews. Jews come in all shapes and have a rich and DIVERSE history. But they feel Jewish. Bless them. The Palestinians feel just as strongly Palestinian. Don't deny people the right to self-determination and their own identity they feel.
Regarding my plot of land - yes, it is nice :) |
