Rhapsody Blueprints.

>A telling sign of what Rhapsody will provide was Computer Associates'
commitment to the Rhapsody platform last month. CAI won't mean much to
Mac users. Their software manages large networks, providing updates to
software, software metering, and inventory. They are a strongly PC-centric
company and have barely supported Mac. Why would they make such a big
commitment so early in the Rhapsody game? It's impossible to say how they
reached their decision, but I think it's reasonable to assume they were
provided a working glimpse of what Rhapsody will do for them. Not just
marketing material, but a team of Apple engineers doing a live demo of how
CAI could use Rhapsody to extend their market.

What did they see? They saw the open, stable, extensible environment their
customers currently wish for (but aren't getting from Microsoft). They saw the
single development cycle for multiple platforms. And they saw the superior
performance of the PowerPC architecture. This is a $4 billion dollar company.
They don't make such commitments lightly, and certainly not with Macs.<

Comprehensive, worthwhile and w/screenshots.
