NY precious metals seen opening slightly higher

NEW YORK, Oct 27 (Reuters) - COMEX and NYMEX precious metals futures were seen opening slightly higher Monday, with gold seen finding a little support following Friday's huge slide to new 12 year lows.

The U.S. dollar was weaker overnight, Asian and European stockmarkets slid further and U.S. equities were also seen opening lower, which may provide some support for gold, traders said.

In addition, Swiss finance minister, Kaspar Villigar, backed away from the plan announced Friday to sell the full amount of 1,400 tonnes of Swiss gold reserves if referendum approval is obtained in 1999.
