HDTV may start to heat up soon.

"Over 40 TV Stations Set To Begin Digital Programs"
dailynews.yahoo.com

"ABC said it would air the movie ''101 Dalmatians'' on Nov. 1 as its first digital broadcast. CBS has said it would air a National
Football League game in high-definition digital on Nov. 8."

The football game will be the big deal, I think. The sports bars will pony up for the expensive sets as a way to draw customers.

I expect to see feature news pieces all over TV -- after all this is a story about TV, so I bet the coverage will be pretty big, with reporters asking fans how they liked the picture, etc. Then the story will end with the reporter saying, "But, with a price tag of X, there it's doubtful we'll see major sales anytime soon."

"Then the anchors will have a little chit chat about how prices are expected to fall, and the picture sure looks great."

In general this will be a big wake up call as it brings HDTV into people's minds.

Are there any good plays in HDTV, or is it mainly the big manufacturers like Panisonic?
