How does the company buying back shares on the market give management more control of the company? I can see if they were buying shares in their personal accounts... or is it that by reducing the outstanding shares, they make their existing personal holdings a bigger piece of the pie? Any idea how much management owns? Please explain your logic.

The second guess is right. They have been major shareholders for sometime and it will continue so. It is just too risk (or perhaps lack of personal capital ) to purchase shares by their own money. But if they do generate cash in the business, it is a good way of leave option open.
