I am sure Flynn knew that.

But look at other things like the rapid evolution of our civilization, over the last 100 years. We went from women not being able to vote, to them now being a large portion of our congress, or the end to institutional racism, sexism and homopobia and new awareness of civil rights.

Or that Europe went from two world wars to the EU!!

We are obviously qualitatively better thinkers than 100 years ago.

Why do you think that is??

Spelling Bees began in 1925 and became nationally popular after WW2. Those word lists would have been just the thing to change the results of IQ tests. I've taken a bunch of IQ tests in the last 50 years for GRE, Mensa, and job recruiters so I think I have an understanding of what they test and it's primarily the breadth of vocabulary.

The point is that the test can be learned, If it tests any innate mental properties it might be the sheer number of words you can remember.
