Java on DOS
NDIAN WELLS, Calif., Feb 10 (Reuter) - Sun Microsystems Inc's Javasoft on Monday said it had
begun demonstrating a software implementation of its Java system, which it said was able to breathe
new life into older personal computers.

The software-only implementation, which is expected to be announced as a product around Sun's
second annual Java conference in April, could cost as little as around $100 and operate on 180
million older personal computers.

"This is all about how we save the 180 million older PCs that are headed for the junkyard," Alan
Baratz, president of JavaSoft, said in an interview.
