Tim...
Let me make it real simple for you. MSN and AOL compete directly for subscriber market share. MSN I believe has roughly 2 million subs. AOL has roughly 9 million. If MSN's content was so fantastic as you seem to elude to in your posts, explain to me why AOL has 7 million more subs. If MSN's content is so fantastic, like Slate, why are they paying AOL to allow it to be an anchor tenant? Why are they hiring away CSRV content creators if their content is so fantastic as it stands? There plan to charge for Slate went kaput, because they don't have enough viewers that will pay $$$.
I am sure MSFT has more than enough money to carpet bomb MSN disks. They will roll out with IE4 also. MSN says "expand capacity 500% to give our users the best online experience." That is fine. Where are the subs to utilize that bandwith?
What I really enjoy is that all the deals made by AOL and Bob, bears like you always say there is some positive spin. At least deals are lined up! I don't see any big announcements from MSN. If there are, please post. N2K struggling, IPO danger, etc. etc. Bottom line is if it goes through, AOL will receive 18 million dollars more in revenue than MSN will.
You keep on believing that WebTV is the next killer app, all 100,000 boxes, and that MSN has the best content. As for the market beginning to catch on the game, I think they already have. Seems like you need to catch on.
P.S. Another hint, if WebTV ever gains an audience, make sure to look for AOL as a content provider on it. @Home is already knocking on our door....a win win situation.
Please, go buy some more puts or short and enjoy.
