AOL was (adn still is for some) a glamour stock that the retail investors can indentify with. Therefore, it IS critical for investment bankers to keep stocks such as AOL, INTC, MSFT up during this heavy IPO calendar (some 240 deals before the end of the year) and thus, keep the "little guy" in the market.

Watch out below when the liquidity dries up: last July, bids were disappearing faster than snow flakes in July. Theoretically, there is a buy for every sell. Going thru the 97 crash, July 96 reminded me of something similar. During the sharp sell-offs when "buys" simply disappear, some WS guys manipulate the market with indeces and sub-indices. // CA
