CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 1997--THQ Inc.
(NASDAQ/NMS:THQI) Thursday announced that James L. Whims has
joined the company's board of directors.
Whims comes to THQ's board having both founded and managed
several high growth, high profile companies in Silicon Valley.
Most recently Whims was executive vice president at Sony Computer

Under his tenure at Sony, the company's PlayStation game system
captured 80 percent market share in the "next generation" hardware

Previously, Whims was integral to the successful restructuring effort
at Mindscape Inc., a leading publisher of consumer software.
"We are delighted with Jim's joining our board of directors,"
stated Brian J. Farrell, THQ president and CEO. "As THQ emerges as
one of the strongest software concerns in the entertainment
marketplace, Jim's high-tech consumer product experience and

The addition of Whims to the board brings the total number of THQ
directors to six. Whims will be included with the current directors
of THQ presented to shareholders at the company's Annual Meeting of
