Mani, Thanks for your reply, That's funny actually I'm one of those guys that's gonna buy Windows XP very soon after the release, and I might also buy a new PC at the same time with XP pre-loaded from the factory. I'll wait to see what news comes of problems with activating XP. IF XP seems to activate reliably I might just format my disk and forget the new PC.

This is the first time since WIN95 in Aug '95 that I've had even a passing interest in a new O/S. The reason is for the stability , but even more so for the Messenger part of the package. The VoIP is what makes me take notice.

So why is the $300 tax rebate not gonna help where's the dough going instead?
Why doesn't back to school fly in your opinion? ( because of WIN XP being launched in Oct and not in Aug, in my opinion)

Oh boy, Yuppers! Price sells not frequency these days. You're talking about high Gigahertz aren't you? Or do you mean Celerons and Durons(high MHz)?
Don't most folks buy Giaghertz these days? Or is the bulk of units still in Megahertz territory?

>>. No one is willing to pay the high premium for high MHz and the small price delta for high end CPU's confirms that.

I also expect it to get very ugly for both companies, as well as most related PC companies. With Intel squeezin AMD's balls, AMD will give a good tug back, Thus the mobile market will be torpedoed by much lower ASPs. Mobile is AMDs only leverage for the moment. "Ground zero" will be Japan where mobile war is fought.

It's not too late to play nice nice.
