I wonder how to gauge the investment ROI for a given company when they choose to build the entire infrastructure of wiring a community.
How long does it take for the 'payback' to cover the huge expenses of wiring a city ? You may wire all of it, but not everyone will subscribe to it, so you have to guess on your ROI. (?)
What if they wire it and nobody subscribed ? Or if they project 60% of the households will, but only 20% do ?

I remember when basic cable TV was $4.95 a month, now it's $40.05 a month, and we get 60 channels as opposed to 40 when it first started here 21 years ago.

I guess you value it based on what you can FORCE people to pay.
