Vital Statistics - 6/13/00

According to statistics from VideoScan?s First Alert Reporting Retailers, for the week ending June 4, 2000, DVD title sales for the week were 651,000, down slightly from last week?s sales of 717,000. Year-to-date sales are 16,397,000.

DVD player sales are phenomenal! According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), for the week ending June 2, 2000, unit sales to dealers for the week and month are 135,423, a 476.2 percent increase over 1999! Year-to-date sales are 2,181,675, a 121.9 percent increase over 1999 sales.

Analog projection television sales also skyrocketed for the week. Sales for the week and month are 21,279, a 123.1 percent increase over 1999 and year-to-date sales are 506,494, a 28.2 percent increase over 1999 sales.

VCR deck sales for the week and month are 326,298, a 112 percent increase over 1999 and year-to-date sales are 8,571,303, a 12.5 percent increase over 1999 sales.
