NEW YORK, July 13 (Reuters) - Technology stocks continued
trading after-hours on Monday ahead of quarterly earnings
reports expected from some big tech names this week.
Shares in Intel Corp. were trading near the day's
highs after a Piper Jaffray analyst raised his earnings
estimates for the chip maker a day before the company is
expected to report.
Intel was up at 82-1/4 on the Instinet electronic trading
system from a closing price Friday of 79-3/4. The stock was
trading higher for much of the afternoon and was the second
most actively traded issue Monday.
Shares in Ascend Communications Inc were also
active, trading at 53-1/2, up 1/16 from pre-close levels, ahead
of the telecommunications software provider's results expected
Tuesday afternoon.
Microsoft Corp. was trading close to its afternoon
levels at 117-9/16. The company will report earnings later this
week.
Other stocks were quite in after-hours trading on Monday,
dealers said.
The New York Stock Exchange said Monday that session one
volume was 1,382,200 compared with 1,208,000 on Friday. Session
two volume was 2,908,434 compared with 275,533 on Friday, the
exchange said. |
