And their friends like Dan Case's firm:

10/08/97 America Online Shares Rise 4.2% on Preview Travel Agreement
(Bloomberg)
It's just the latest show of AOL's on-line dominance, said
Hambrecht & Quist analyst Paul Noglows, who said he expects AOL
to pursue similar agreements in other areas. ''It's another signal they have some of the most desirable real estate in cyberspace,'' Noglows said.

No mention of course that Preview long has been AOL's exclusive
provider of travel (on strength of Leonsis's 78,000 shares acquired
before his company was acquired by AOL); or that AOL owns 15%.
OR that H&Q is underwriter of Preview's IPO via which the money
to pay AOL is to come.
