Transportation Security Act of 2001, who added amendment
to require 100 percent screening of checked baggage by
FAA-certified explosive detection equipment.

WHAT: Manufacturing floor tour, demonstration, statements and Q&A
Last year, Congress approved the Aviation and Transportation
Security Act, which mandated 100 percent screening of checked
baggage by certified explosive-detection systems by Dec. 31,
2002. The government has not ordered machines as a result of
the legislation yet.
Inslee co-authored the law. An Inslee amendment to a DOT
bill earmarked $250 million from the new ticket tax for EDS
equipment.
