Intel Introduces 10 Gb/s Optical Transceivers

< from www.convergedigest.com >

Intel introduced two new optical transceivers for use in high-
density, 10 Gbps optical equipment. The Intel TXN13200, which
comes in an OC192 SONET/SDH and a 10 Gigabit Ethernet version,
integrates a Serializer/Deserializer and runs at 6.5 watts
maximum power consumption, about 35% less than previous
generations of transceivers on the market. The Intel TXN17401
supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications, such as enterprise
switches/routers and metro equipment, and is available as a
XENPAK MSA compliant subsystem. Both devices use uncooled laser
technology and can transmit at distances up to 10 km over single
mode fiber optic cables.
