VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 16, 1996--QLT PHOTOTHERAPEUTICS(TSE: QLT NASDAQ NATIONAL MARKET: QLTIF ) QLT PhotoTherapeutics Inc. (QLT)has received clearance from health authorities in France to market its proprietary light-activated drug, PHOTOFRIN(R) porfimer sodium, as a treatment for certain lung and esophageal cancers, the Company announced today.
The approved indications for PHOTOFRIN(R) include the treatment of recurrent cancers of the lung (non-small cell type) and esophagus at either an early or advanced stage.
QLT may now apply to regulatory authorities for a pricing decision on PHOTOFRIN(R) and reimbursement under the national health care plan in France.
