U.S. Army Grants SolarWinds Products Certificate of Networthiness (CoN), NIAP
Lists SolarWinds Products as "In Evaluation" for Common Criteria

AUSTIN, TX, Jun 29, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- SolarWinds(R) (SWI), a
leading provider of powerful and affordable IT management software for companies
worldwide, announced today that the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology
Command has authorized the use and purchase of SolarWinds' products with its
Certificate of Networthiness (CoN). In addition, SolarWinds' portfolio of
network, application and server management products are officially listed as "In
Evaluation" by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) for
conformance to the Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 2.

"SolarWinds' products help the federal government reduce network downtime, manage
network configuration, change and compliance, and improve staff efficiency," said
Ed Jones, Senior VP, Business Development, DLT Solutions. "The receipt of the
Army CoN is significant as it authorizes the use of SolarWinds products on Army
Networks Worldwide. The pursuit of Common Criteria is further validation that
SolarWinds is committed to the Federal marketplace. The CoN in conjunction with
the NIAP certification will clearly expedite the procurement of these
mission-critical tools that enable the warfighter."

U.S. Army Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) The U.S. Army Certificate of
Networthiness (CoN) accreditation ensures SolarWinds products meet strict U.S.
Army and Department of Defense (DoD) standards for security, compatibility and
sustainability.

The CoN is required for all enterprise software products in the Army Enterprise
Infrastructure Network. The certification also applies to all National Guard,
Army Reserve and DoD organizations that use the Army Enterprise Infrastructure
Network. Supporting information on SolarWinds' CoNs can be found on the Army
Knowledge Online (AKO) website.

With the CoN, the following SolarWinds software can be loaded and used on any
army computer:

Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation Common Criteria is
an internationally recognized standard that provides a broad range of evaluation
criteria for commercial and nationally sensitive government-use IT security
products. CygnaCom's Common Criteria Testing Laboratory (CCTL) is accredited by
the National Voluntary Laboratory Assessment Program (NVLAP) and approved by the
NIAP. The CygnaCom SEL performs Common Criteria evaluations in accordance with
the NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS).

Federal IT users needing to run applications in National Security Systems (NSS)
environments can now look to SolarWinds as a compliant software solution. For a
full list of SolarWinds products "In Evaluation," please visit the NIAP website.

"SolarWinds software is used by virtually every civilian agency and department of
the Federal government and is committed to delivering software that supports
these agencies' unique and dynamic needs," said Kevin Thompson, President and
CEO, SolarWinds. "The NIAP listing and the Army CoN are significant strides to
give our customers assurance that our products can meet the highest standards and
compliance requirements and help ease the process of getting approvals from IT
Security and Information Assurance groups to install our software."

SolarWinds' Community, thwack(TM), Extends Product Support Using SolarWinds NCM,
users can build custom policy reports specific to their organization's unique
compliance needs. What's more, the SolarWinds online community, thwack, provides
a number of out-of-the-box Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIG and
Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) reports available to download
for free.

"Performing DISA STIG compliance checks on dozens of different networks is a
labor intensive process, requiring manual inspections of many network devices.
When I use NCM's Policy Reporter to audit my network against the DISA STIGs, it
saves me an enormous amount of time," said Brian K. Tipton, Information Assurance
Manager, C2 Solutions Group, Inc. "We anticipate that many Army network managers
will choose to implement automated daily STIG compliance reports with NCM to
improve their ongoing compliance and security."

Public Sector users can facilitate compliance with the DISA STIG report and
easily create policies for FISMA and National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) compliance.

The FISMA compliance report checks against Cisco networking devices, including
routers and switches.
