I've been an SI member since Christmas 1995, (hey I got ya beat by a whole year) but have been absent posting since the Amati Board withered away, though I still use Mail from time to time. I started this thread as I grew tired of the mess on Yahoo, plus all the benefits of posting here, with pictures and text highlights. I've missed posting here since the day I began posting on Yahoo's anything goes message board and the 4000 character Limit LOL.
With the new Company name " McEwen Mining" I thought it was time to come back home to SI.
I've been a shareholder of US Gold since 2007, and followed McEwen since then and his past accomplishments. As with Gold Corp, McEwen is again the Largest Shareholder of US Gold Corp, 21% ownership, along with 30% ownership in Minera Andes and if the merger completes this week he will own $110 Million of McEwen Mining and does not take a Salary.
Being a legend in the Gold Mining Industry, he is continually being asked for Interviews, which works well for keeping the company in the limelight. He did not choose the name McEwen Mining, though it stands out from the crowd due to his name being in the title.
Again his Goal is to have McEwen Mining on the S&P 500 in 2015, requiring a $6 Billion Market Cap. Currently the only Gold Mining Company on the S&P is Newmont and he says they need some company ; ^)
The man seems very mild mannered, but under all that he's one tough cookie. Taking on the Union in a 3 year strike! Death Threats! Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My.... thestar.com
