let alone Gonzaga

It's like "Nevada" or "Oregon." Don't listen to out-of-towners tell you how to pronounce the names. For "Gonzaga" and "Nevada," that middle "a" will trip you up if you ain't familiar: "aaa" like "grass", not "ah".

For "Oregon," remember whence the name originates: from the French word for "hurricane," which is what crossing the Columbia bar felt like to sailors back in the day.
