Sam, nothing to elaborate. We had a disagreement weeks back. You said that AOL was so amazing because they grew subscribers and MSN could not. I told you that MSN could bombard people with disks and offer free service (e.g. for a year) if they wanted in order to grow subscribers. However, I pointed out that this would not help MSFT stock because their investors wanted to see profits and not even industry "leader" AOL could show any of that. I told you that MSFT decided that the profits would be in content, and delivering Web access to the unwashed masses (AOL delievers to the barely washed). They were happy to concede whatever business AOL thought it had, to AOL, instead of wasting money. Rumors to the effect that they are selling a majority stake in MSN certainly bear that out. This has been in the makings for awhile no doubt, as MSN has not been spending money on marketing. Besides, anyone wanting cheap content aggregation can just use IE 4.0. Very cool with channels. Of course, days later, AOL announces that they too will switch to a channel format. Whose the innovator here? I will admit that Case et al. are masters at making themselves rich in a irrationally exuberant stock market, but building a viable business is another thing.
