Ron, while I agree that RAPT is not out of the wood - and you are right that firewall is out of favor for reasons more than one, like competition, barrier of entry and the constant possibility of the MSFT threat - we should not lump RAPT with REDB. The latter is a data warehousing co - and indeed it (the latter) is in deep do-do <VBG>. I should know. I was killed when the limited partners started distributing REDB stk back in Mar. Per chance, is OLDE your broker?
Back to RAPT, granted that its valuation was way out of proportion when it was 1st ipo, I think the real problem is that the Street doesn't want to believe in RAPT, despite the fact that it has been able to come in with better than expected performance regularly. Maybe the street is afraid that MSFT will destroy RAPT like it did to NETM or FTPS; however, I think RAPT may ve a better chance. 1st, firewalls are not tcp/ip. 2nd, RAPT is backed by CPQ. 3rd, RAPT mgt seems to be able to anticipate new mkts and to jump on them, such as NT last year and story MediaOne at Weston school district.
That said, I agree with you totally. One must be careful playing this stk. rgds Bosco |
