Like I said, citizens with guns will make the government (or the people who comprise the government, Nihil<g>) think twice about mounting any campaign against those citizens...it may not stop it, but they'll have to plan their operations carefully - during which time, one hopes someone in authority in government sees that repression of its citizens isn't what supposed to happen in this country. Obviously, it doesn't always happen. Proponents of gun control often cite statistics that show there are fewer murders in Europe, where there are more restrictive laws concerning gun ownership - but they never seem to mention that Switzerland, which requires every male citizen of an age for military service to keep a rifle in their home, also enjoys a low rate of homicide.
