In any case, if flight would occur, the proximity to the sun would burn the poor hapless souls who tried. Joseph Michael and Jacques Ètienne Montgolfier thought otherwise. We have also had the same kind of irrefutable proof for craniometry, DDT, alar, second hand smoke, silicone, etc. It is easy to believe something when you only read one side of the controversy. It is easier yet to make blanket statements without documenting the information backing them.
