The original ISPs that were rolled up were headquartered in PA, KS, TN, AR, OH, FL, CA, IL, MO and IN. Their most recent acquisition was in MI and the two prior acquisitions were in CA and KS. I suspect that they have a presence in other states, though I do not have that information. They intend to run the company through eight regional offices.
As you suggested, the individual entities that were rolled up were using a variety of backbone providers. Per the S-1, it is ONEM's intent to establish a national backbone network: Our Network At March 31, 1999, our network consisted of the 17 individual networks maintained by the ISPs we acquired in connection with our IPO. Our plans include establishment of our own national backbone network, insistence on common technology, reduction of redundant POPs, operation of a national network operations center and continued deployment of stable technology. We plan to establish a national backbone by the end of the first quarter of 2000 by utilizing the resources of one or more large communications carriers. Our ISPs will utilize this national backbone for Internet connectivity. As part of our national network, we intend to establish private peering relationships, and a central and a standby network operations center. |
