Z, komag makes media (platters), while read rite and apm and others make heads. for a great educational experience, look up "disk drive" under the search mode. There are a bunch of great technologist on SI who you can read past posts from. Also, Idema presents tech papers on the web. way over my head, but a must read to look into IOM's future. BL
