Remedies are not good in Europe. In General, Europe has very different justice systems than the U.S.

In Denmark, Ameritech has a de-facto monopoly on telephony. The remedies are simple: If Ameritech wants to change prices, it has to seek an allowance for that. Sometimes they get told to change their prices. They are forced to give other companies access to their cables at specified prices etc.

As far as I know, the European Union only has to remedies against Microsoft:

1) Stop all sales of Microsoft products in Europe, until they stop monopolizing. I've read this one in a newspaper, but don't trust it 100%.
2) Tell the politicians to provide tools (laws) to stop it.

This is also the reason why the EU has been told so little about in the media regarding the DOJ case.
