I Agree That Augieboo's Comments Were Offensive
While I have not reviewed a large number on his comments on this thread or others I have noted some of them and most seem to be substantive.
Without commenting on the necessity, political wisdom, or morality of an unilateral pre-emptive strike on Iraq by the US (the possibility of which probably deserves more consideration than history as perceived in the US might suggest), at this point it does appear that if the US were to attack Iraq that the UK would be the only other country that would directly support that effort. The following is from Janes Review:
"War with Iraq: Foreign Report has some predictions
Almost everyone with access to the Pentagon or the White House is leaking information about America's plans for the war against Saddam Hussein. Depending on the leak and its source, the US action could consist of 10,000, 50,000, even 250,000 soldiers, or no soldiers at all, and could start in October, December or early next year.
In this cacophony of contradictory leaks one thing seems certain: alongside American troops, the soldiers of one other country - Britain - will be present. Yet few people in the White House seem to appreciate the difficulties that the UK prime minister, Tony Blair, faces." janes.com
To the extent that augieboo generally does not seem to usually post offensive, slanderous posts, perhaps it would be appropriate to ask him to clarify or substantiate his opinion, rather than just demand an apology and ban him when it is not immediately forthcoming. |
