Sun,
1. Iranian people have always been friendly to the US so your point is well taken. There may be a place for an Islamic fundamentalist regime that gives up terrorism and enter the community of nations. Iran unlike the Taliban has never used religion to thwart progress. They are primarily against Western culture.
2. During the 1967 war i was a grad student at the University of Chicago. There were many Islamic student--arab and non arab. When the war broke out they barricaded themselves on the top floor of the dorm we were in. They were afraid because so many of the students were Jewish. Some of them were our friends. It took days to get them out. We all ate dinner together that night.

America is a flawed country but like capitalism it is still the best. Terrorists are like the pirates of the yesteryear. When the civilized world got fed up with pirates they eliminated them. Enuff said!
