Hey Doug, the real trade off of standing up isn't what it costs us personally. Just think what this world would be like if some never stood up to Germany in WWI and WWII. What would it be like if no one stood up to serial murderers and rapists? What if Luther never stood up to the Catholic Church? If Galileo was too afraid to speak? Those things are the real trade offs when men won't stand up for what is right.

If the Apostle Paul, Peter, John and company wouldn't have stood up for what was right, 2000 years later, I know I would be long ruined and very miserable... I'm forever thankful they paid the price to get the message out. (For it held the key to escaping my wretched character... and countless others have also found that to be true) That cost most of them their lives though to save mine and multitudes of others who have done great good in the world.

I agree, we can't say taking a public stand for GATA is a 'no brainer', we should know what the costs will be and then wage our wars accordingly. That doesn't mean we shouldn't take stands though, it just means we should know the consequences and be prepared for the 'expenses' we may incur. That's why it takes brains... then courage, and tenacity... possibly selflessness and the belief that joy will come in the morning.
