doing a 1031 exchange of about 250k to buy a condo yielding MAYBE 3% pre tax vs. paying 20k in tax Well KM wants to buy in Naples FLA - so if the region is right maybe the purchase not so bad - HAHA - but I understand condo market is the most over built of all eh? I took some 1031 money and bought some self storage and marina stuff in fl - i figure when they lose nice big home - they gonna need somewhere to store thier stuff - or like that Jennifer connoly ben kingsley movie - HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG - images.amazon.com where they actually LIVE in the self storage - HAHA - I know bums that do this - much cheaper than apartment - also people got scared of boats flying around thier yard last hurricane - rather store it somewhere else - and some of the money into vanguard funds and etf's and such. If bush gets his way maybe there will be NO TAX and she won't have to pay that 20K in the future on her sales and wont have to dance around 1031 schemes. Be wary of these companies that say they have lawyers issuing legal opinions that thier product qualifies for 1031 - SEC is looking into that and doesn't look like they are going to allow some stuff - a lot of 1031 investors about to get burned and maybe have to sell thier investment to get the money to pay the TAX they thought they was gonna beat. That might add fuel to the fire! Where is she selling and where is she buying?
