Interesting article in MacWeek concerning Be & Apple:

macweek.com

......

Money remains a key sticking point. Apple offered Be as much as $120 million, sources said, but the 40-person company wants $300 million to $400 million. Sources said that Apple stock would constitute a large portion of any payment, so negotiations have required projections of Apple's future market worth. Apple Chief Financial Officer Fred Anderson, who is involved in the discussions, is said to be conservative with these estimates.

......

As a result, sources said, it will be difficult to focus the company behind a strategy before Hancock announces it in early January. Sources inside AppleSoft said they expect to learn details of the company's OS plan for the first time during Hancock's speech at Macworld Expo in San Francisco.
