It would make sense. The E-Healthinsurance guys wouldn't have to follow around the HealthAxis guys into every meeting trying to nail down a new marketing agreement. They also wouldn't have to keep changing their web site design everytime HealthAxis does. They also wouldn't have to go out and strike net real estate deals that Healthaxis already has.

After all, is Klieners money any better than UICI, Tudor, Intel, Brown Simposon or Lehman? The answer is no. This company attracted plenty of talent without a VC investor. They nailed down major alliances with major insurers like Aetna and Fortis on their own (VC's don't have connections in the insurance biz, but UICI and HPS, the 10% owners do).

Merging with E-Health would be a consolidation play eliminating and up and coming competitor. It would also consolidate industry support for a single powerful platform to the consumer and bring in the sexy backing of Kleiner, Healtheon and others into the Healthaxis fold. There is no doubt that Healthaxis has a stronger game plan and better position. Let's see if Kleiner makes the right move.
