Jim, seeing your PC is a 486, you probably don't want to invest
much money in it (?). Here's what I would do: ask AOL which modems
work well. (They will probably not recommend a brand, but may
mention several that work). Then buy and install one of the
recommended internal modems. A good 33 kbaud should cost less
than $30.
