Now we just need a handy dandy guide telling us at what P/E one should buy various types of equities. e.g. Does a high P/E imply a high price if the stock is a consumer non-durable; or that we're at the bottom of the cycle and approaching the best time to buy for a Semi Equipment stock. I'm not sure what conclusions one could form by looking at the P/E of a non-homogeneous index - especially one which contains vastly different types of companies with vastly different growth rates, profitability, etc.?

It's too bad there isn't a pat set of answers that always works in all situations so that everyone could become multi-billionaires without ever having to work a whole day. ;^)
