An interesting series of articles by Henry Liu on USDollar hegemony.

Several things are missing, he does seem to thing that US Policy makers are both scheming (likely true) and brilliant (only occasionaly)

He also fails to mention China's devaluation and it's role in the 1997 Asia crisis.

US currency in circulation is about 800 Billion.
US gold reserves are about 260 million ounces.
So a price of $3000 per ounce covers all the paper.

Part of the gold reserves may be encumbered.

US Federal national debt is 9 Trillion, a gold price of $36,000 an ounce would cover that.
