Brinker may expressly favor the Vanguard total stock fund in theory,
but such favoritism was not evident during the show I heard on
Saturday. That day, Brinker labored hard to present the Vanguard
500 fund as a superlative investment, having outperformed most
other funds, as he and one caller, in particular, took pains to
detail. Indeed, during the course of that show, Brinker contrasted
the war stories of not a few of his callers to the happy fate be-
falling them had they merely invested in the Vanguard 500 fund.

On Sunday, Brinker did mention the Vanguard total stock fund,
but Saturday belonged to the Vanguard 500 index fund, as I heard
it. If he mentioned the Vanguard total stock fund on Saturday, it
escaped my notice.
