Hi Marcie,

I've been following MPP for about six months. The problem I have with this stock and with CIG JRJR and any other cigar stocks is the current tobacco settlement. I don't know if you've been following it, but there has been some serious discussion about including cigars in the settlement. Fortunately, the current McCain bill does not directly include cigars, but there are already many amendments proposed. To give you some idea of what some of the prior proposals have been that I think would significantly affect cigars: restrictions or ban on mail-order, restrictions on the point-of-purchase (potentially eliminating walk-in humidors), and of course significant excise taxes. There was some committee testimony in March or late February by the Cigar Association of America that deals with some of these issues. If you can't find it, I could try to look it up and post it.

Hopefully none of these things will happen. Until the settlement is resolved and tobacco is off the public enemy #1 list, I'm staying away from cigar stocks. But of course Castro could die......
