The new Sansa e270, $270, offers 50 percent more capacity--6 GB total--and adds other features those players lack.

The 6GB Sansa is selling for $220 on Amazon now, and I expect the 8GB version to be released in the near future.

One possible reason for a delay on the refresh of the Nano is that Samsung had trouble ramping their 8Gb MLC chip last quarter. They said the problems are now behind them and that the chip should become a big part of their volume during the second half.
