I know a canadian who just signed up with Interactive Brokers, which is direct access. You may add it to the list of american brokers accepting canadian customers.

By the way, they charge 0.01$ per share (minimum 1$). That's right. I myself am looking seriously into it, no point in giving anymore of my hard earned money to canadian crooks.
