In a separate development, Unicom's parent company, China United Telecommunications Corp., confirmed that it will use a next-generation technology supplied by San Diego-based Qualcomm Corp. called CDMA2000, said the company's chairman, Yang Xianzu. Over the past few weeks, Qualcomm's stock has fallen dramatically as news leaked out about Unicom's plans not to use the currently available version of the technology.
