Since you have to plug-in the iPod-like device to charge it anyway, a wireless capability doesn't have as much utility as the article implies.

The utility of wireless is sure to grow once you get used to it. Some TV's and VCR's used to have wired remote controls, and remember the days of laptops before Wi-Fi? You won't notice it at first, but if it works seamlessly (something Apple is better at doing than Microsoft), then when it doesn't work is when you'll miss it and notice it!
